First thoughts
Just finally got a change, in between watching the Olympics, to install SP 2and I’m utterly annoyed. I know that Microsoft is trying to push for security to the point were they are now willing to sacrifice compatibility to get the OS more secure, but adding a small little icon in your system tray just because you refuse to turn on the firewall, or automatic updating is dumb. Especially so because there is no way I can find, at the moment, to turn that damn thing off.
Besides this little nitpick, I did find that the version of StyleXP that was installed didn’t want to work once SP 2 was on. The TGTSoft website was prepared for this though, and had the latest SP 2 compatible download available. Yay!
Second little nitpick: Microsoft apparently is still big on trying get everyone to use their software, putting shortcuts for IE and Windows Media Player in the Quick Launch. It also turned off the status bar, which if you asked me was the worst thing they did in XP.
