A thorn on the side

It looks like firefox keeps gaining ground. So far it’s pushed IE down below 90%. That’s impressive. But there has been some not so great news about mozilla and its developers lately on the news. With the recent drop of the mozilla suite and lengthy time its taking for the next releases of firefox and thunderbird I wonder how long firefox’ growth will continue. One of the greatest things about firefox was that it was always releasing a new version every two months! Now I know that was a beta rush to bring out 1.0 in all its glory, but still it was nice.

As for IE 7 it’s still not going to be the greatest thing for developers even if it has better support for standards. Im thinking that even if within 6 months the majority of windows xp installations have IE 7, I’m still going to have to worry about IE 6, 5.5, 5 and 4! This is microsofts way of saying to consumers you have to upgrade to get a better experience, while really saying to everyone that we aren’t important.
