Being a little busy
The past couple of days have been rather busy for me. I’ve been doing a little work on the side besides my normal resting and playing games. Actually, sometimes it looks like I actually have a life: last Thrusday Kate and I went to Super Wheels - the former Hot Wheels - to a fundrasing Alienware event. We met up with my co-workers for an hour or so to try to skate around in circles. I really can’t belive I suck that much, and I’m hoping that my ice skating hasn’t gotten as bad as that.
Late on Friday we watched Sin City. First off: very disturbing. Towards the end of the film I just couldn’t take the constant plot twists! I wanted it all to end quickly and not nescessarly violently as violence in Sin City is something which is taken to the extreme. Personally, it’s hard enough to see an attack at the groin area, but to have it removed? That causes some unwanted mental images.
Outside of that, the movie was alright. The acting was graphic novel cheesy thanks to the dialog. Cinematography was right on, capturing the feel of a dark comic - had they added speech and thought baloons would really have made the effect dead on. There was one particular scene at “The Pits” were I was really aware of this effect. That said, I’m not sure I would watch this again.
Coming out of the movie I started feeling the symptoms of an oncoming cold. I haven’t been able to talk normally since sunday. I haven’t missed work though, I have to save those sick days for when I’m about to die.
