Small Updates

I spent most of the day today working on the site. When I set up the site at 1and1 hosting I didn’t do it completely. There were some pages missing. I also didn’t do a very good job of converting the site from the old 3.6 look to the new 4.0 - I still haven’t changed the name in most places. Some of the pages that got lost along the process were the miscellaneous page. Today I spent the day setting up that part of the site. So now people will actually be able to find information about me and the site at the about page as well as be able to look up random miscellaneous things - this usually translated to links.

One of the things that kept me from setting up those pages was that I wanted to be able to show a list of current entries from the main blog. Now I know there are plugins for MT that do this, I used MultiBlog, it’s just that I didn’t have time to set it up. One of the other things I wanted to add was a list of current bookmarks from del.ico.us. With some help from a page from MovableBlog I used Feeds.App to set that up. You can find those links on this page, as well as the miscellaneous page.

As I sidenote, I’ve been playing around with del.ico.us and I think its pretty good. I think tags are a better way to describe bookmarks then the typical hierarchial structure, but having to enter tags every time I want to store a bookmark turns me off. Sometimes when doing research I bookmark a page without looking to see if its useful - I’ll do that when I’m doing a deeper examination. Besides that issue, firefox doesn’t have a good enough extension that lets you handle your del.ico.us bookmarks. Although the new gecko based browser Flock seems to have that built in.

There are still a couple of other things I want to do to the site. I’ve already updated MT to 3.2. I’m also hoping to update Gallery to version 2 before the end of the year. I was thinking about doing that later, but there seems to be some problems with my current installation. I even tried to update to 1.5 but that didn’t seem to work.
