Drupal Reached 5.0!

I first heard of Drupal after reading up on the Kubrick Wordpress Theme. The current kubrick theme at the time, version 1.0, had been ported over for use in Drupal, along with other CMS systems like Movable Type (which happens to be my blog cms of choice). It looked very interesting at the time, but I was spending lots of time with MT as well as school, work and the many other life related things that I didn’t get a chance to play around with it. That was a while back.

I recently started following drupal and its development after some extra work I did. I found it very easy to both get going, and develop for. Although I haven’t actually developed any modules yet, one project did have me do more then simple work on creating a theme, as well as make minor changes to some modules. I was so impress with it, I used Drupal over the more popular phpBB when it came time to create my WoW guild’s site. It took me just several hours one night to get the bare minimum going, that is forums, access rights, and a stock theme.

I’m taking my time doing a little more complicated things with my guild’s site. I’m taking everything piecemeal. But there are deffinately somethings I want to add, like a module to get the guild’s member roster from warcraftrealms.com. And there are also some things that I’m having issues with trying to create a more creative theme. Like the comment posting, the markup is not exactly what I would have wanted. So I’m hoping that a move to the newer 5.0, which was released today, will come in handy!
